The Johanna Metcalf Performing Arts Prizes is one of the largest unrestricted prizes for artists in Ontario, celebrating mid-career and early-career artists across multiple disciplines, including dance, theatre and music/opera. The prize was awarded to 10 artists, 5 winners and their chosen protégés.
The theme for the 2025 Johannas was Ribbon Movement, a ribbon symbolizing the special bond between each winner and protégé pair. Each pair was linked by a ribbon in a distinct colour, bringing movement and continuity to the portraits. The winners are dressed in sophisticated black and their protégés in classic white.
I led the project from concept to delivery, directing the portraits and developing the visual identity for the awards ceremony.
